Graeme has had a lifelong love affair with science, holding senior research and leadership roles in Australia and abroad, including the UK, Switzerland, Canada, Germany and Belgium. His international career in biotechnology brought him close to some of the great names in science, inspiring his delight in storytelling as a means of bringing the passion, the hardships and the brief moments of jubilation of scientific discovery to life.

A former CSIRO divisional Chief, CEO and company director, he believes narrative is key to communicating in today’s anti-scientific age.

He lives in Sydney with his artist wife where he enjoys swimming in the ocean rock pools and from where they travel to explore Australia’s richly varied and ancient landscape. He is engaged in the local literary community as one of the organisers of the Northern Beaches Readers Festival, teaches beginning writers at the Writers’ Studio and, as a Fellow of the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, is a mentor to young PhD students.
